The Eligibility and Criteria for applying the course are as follows:

Eligibility for Admission:

Bachelors Degree in any discipline of this University or any other degree of other University / Institution recognized by this University as equivalent thereto with mathematics as one of the subject atleast at Higher secondary level. Candidates studying in the final year / semester of their qualifying degree and have successfully cleared all their papers of their previous year / semesters may appear for the entrance exam. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted only on the production of the qualifying degree mark-list.

Areas of Specialization:

Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Open Source, System Software, Data Base Management Systems and Enterprise Programming.

CIT Scholarship:

Three students out of 60 will be provided with Rs.30,000/- per semester as scholarship on pure merit.
Six students out of 60 will be provided with Rs.15,000/- per semester as scholarship on merit cum additional means.
Nine students who completed undergraduate degree from Chinmaya Mission run Colleges will be provided with Rs. 10,000/- for MBA, Rs. 8,000/- for MCA per semester as scholarship on Chinmaya Protsahan
The recipient may be determined by students' academic, extra curricular abilities.

Visit the Institute and register for MCA programme 2010-11 with a demand draft of Rs. 500/- in the name of Chinmaya Institute of Technology, Kannur, payable at Kannur (by post D.D. of Rs 550/-).

Applicants who seek admission for MCA at Chinmaya Institute of Technology are also requested to apply separately and appear for the Admission test to be conducted by the Association of Self Finance Technical(MCA) Institute of Kerala on 16th May 2010. Details shall be notified by first/second week of April 2010. Admission is based on the test score followed by an interview.

Facilities Offered:

Hostels:

We have well managed, disciplined hostel for men and women with good facilities. The hostels are located inside the campus and walk able distance from the Institute. This would facilitate working for extended hours in the labs and interaction with faculty and fellow students. Some of the salient features of our hostels are:A common area in each floor with recreational facilities - indoor games, Audio-Visual systems, News papers, Magazines etc, Access to all games and sports facilities of the Institute, well furnished rooms,each to accommodate 2 with an attached bathroom cum toilet. Hostel Mess with balanced vegetarian food, rich in proteins and vitamins. Laundry service too is available.

Computing facilities:

We have one of the best computing infrastructure that can be pride of any academic institute and even better than industry standards.

Servers:

High-end Intel Xeon dual Processor based two servers running enterprise grade operating systems providing Application, File,Web services, Web and E-mail servers.
AMD Phenom Quad core processor based server running for all the local services like learning management system, library system, digital library, and file services.
AMD Athlon processor acting as LTSP server for 45 thin clients.
Inter Pentium processor based server running as Wi-Fi server providing wireless internet access to the campus all the 24 hours. .

Workstations:

First 64 bit processor based computing Lab in a college in Kerala. We have 60 systems based on the latest AMD Athlon 64 bit processors, apart from having Latest Intel Pentium 4 processor based (2.4 GHz, 0.13 micron fabrication technology based) 60 systems having one-to-one student-computer ratio.
We also owned a thin clients based computing lab connected to K12 LTSP server from which all the class rooms and some of the faculty members are also getting services.

Operating System/ Software:

Open Source code software is becoming industry standard and ready for enterprise computing. For Academic Institutions it becomes vehicle of exploring, experimenting, learning and contributing.
All the local services have the open source code softwares which are updated periodically. and always has the latest version running.

Laboratories:

Operating Systems, Networking, Multimedia & Graphic Laboratories providing Web facilities, 24 hours access on request both wired and wireless.

Networking:

10 X 24 Port 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet switch with optional optical fiber port slot 8 Port 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet switch with uplink port
12 wireless access points(Net gear and DAX) in and around the campus including the hostel.
Internet:
1 Mbps 1:1 premium Leased Line internet connectivity is available in the institute.
512 KB broad band internet connectivity is also available.
Router:
A high performance router - Quidway R1600 Series router developed by Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.- is used as the branch router in our networks to provide internet connection to all the campus.

Teaching Aids :

Spacious Seminar/ Lecture and Tutorial rooms equipped with multimedia LCD Projectors and AV systems.

Communication Skills Enrichment Facilities:

Facilities and coaching for enhancing communication skills and learning foreign languages viz. French, German, Japanese, Chinese and Russian is available at the Institute.

Placement Cell:

The placement cell at CHINTECH works in close association with Software Research and Development Center (SRDC) and Industry Institute Interaction Cell (IIIC) and takes benefit of all the interactions with industry to leverage it to get our students a growth oriented career.Senior students are part of SSRDC and hence while working on industry sponsored projects, they get exposure and subsequently get meaningful employment.

Library:

We have a spacious and well stocked library with the latest books on computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, Science, Management Studies, Indic studies, spiritual and general topics. Library has been setup in such a way that students can make their reading habits fruitful and intellectual. We subscribe to all reputed and well known industry and academic journals and periodicals including IEEE journals. Library is also equipped with the latest digital photocopier/laser printer. Aim is to open roads to knowledge for students without any compromise.

Seminar Hall:

The Seminar Hall is the ideal venue for seminars by corporate , nonprofit, government organizations, and professional associations members to talk and deliver lectures to the students to provide them a better and closer insight into the working of their different fields. These conferences and lectures not only provide the students with a first hand information about the working of various fields but also gives them an opportunity to get their doubts cleared by asking questions from our guests.
The guests initially deliver their lecture telling the students about their work, the challenges they face, the difficulties they overcome and so on, and after that the students are given an opportunity to ask questions and clear their doubts if any.We have a spacious Seminar Hall with seating capacity of upto 200 with Audio Visual Support of a Multimedia Projector and a high quality PA System.

Tutorial Rooms:

We have tutorial rooms for individual attention and closer interaction between members of faculty and students. Through tutorials the teachers ensure that each and every students are well acquainted with the subject.

Conference Hall:

The central issue for the conference in progress is finding and examining good practices for integrating environmental considerations in the decision making processes, holding meetings and conferences. The Conference Hall has been designed to serve the needs of the campus by providing a venue for education, conferences, meetings, career development and College interaction. The College has an air conditioned conference hall which consists of a long conference table with seating arrangement for above 30 students. Mock Press Conferences by the students are also held here.

Industry Institute Interaction Cell:

Most of the faculty members at ChinTech are from IT industry. This makes interaction with industry seamless and effective, since they understand work culture/ functioning of IT industry. We already have started Institute-Industry Interaction cell (IIIC) and have invited many experts form Industry to visit the Institute to provide feedback and conduct seminars for ChinTech fraternity. At Software Research and Development Center (SRDC) we interact with the industry regularly and work on providing services to IT industry, making interaction in IIIC more meaningful and effective.
Students will be open to a wide range of opportunities to develop their practical skills in hardware, software, career development, leadership qualities and management skills through continuous and sustained interaction from IT industry. This would help them evolve as leaders and trend setters in their respective fields.

Student Empowerment Programme:

As a part of this education system, off campus Student Empowerment Programmes are conducted during the course period inorder to enrich & empower the students. The main objective of the programme is to extend an opportunity to the students to interact with the outside world. Through this programme students are taken to various mission centres situated in the major Metropolitan cities in India such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Cochin etc. During this programme Industrial visits, deliberations by noted industrialists & academicians, visits to historical places etc are conducted. The main focus of the programme is to expose the students towards the industrial ambiance of our country, besides orienting them towards the national heritage & culture which helps the students identify the strength of our motherland.
